Marathi Theatre finds space on IBN Lokmat
On 27th September at 6.30 pm, IBN Lokmat presented a programme on Marathi Theatre with a special emphasis on the play ‘Katkone Trikone’ which is gaining popularity. The play based on family triangle, is a different experiment on Marathi stage. Those who spoke on the occasion were artistes Sandesh Kulkarni and Ketaki Thatte. Dr. Mohan Agashe, also joined the discussion online from Pune. While Dr. Agashe appreciated the efforts put in by the young generation in presenting such a good theme; the young artistes praised the skills of a senior actor like Dr. Agashe while sharing the stage with them. The producer of the play also stated that the play was marketed well, with the help of an advertisement designed by his friend from media.

Watching the TV serial front, it was observed that most of the Marathi serials where huge star cast was involved, only adopted Ekta Kapoor’s formula of passing the time at every moment, wherever there was a twist. More the characters around at that moment, more the camera angles with camera zooming on each character, to catch expressions of each one of them. Isn’t that a best way to ask for time, when there is less to offer in the content? But, they forget that with such effects, they only strain the eyes of the viewers.
More so, this week in particular, we saw most of the female folks crying all the time, whether it was ‘Olakh’, ‘Majhiya Priyala’ ‘Zhunj’ or ‘Kashala Udyachi Baat’. Their outcries were so loud that people were forced to switch over to news channels. There are many, who return home after a tiring day and if they are made to watch such scenes, they would certainly feel disturbed.

In the entertainment segment, Star Majha News channel presented the interview of popular Music director duo - Ajay and Atul. It was a good talk show where both the brothers spoke about their views on success, relationship and money. “ We don’t want to do 50 or 100 films to create a record, but would be satisfied with few films, through which people would remember our creation lifelong,” they said. Narrating their unusual experience while creating the famous song on Lord Ganapati, they said that they had the tunes ready with them and were looking for words to go well with the tunes. Finally, they opened the list of Ganapati’s 108 names of Lord Ganesha and arranged them so as to end each line with the word ‘dhimahee’. To be successful, you need to be creative and Ajay-Atul are just another name of creativity.

It was also great to watch Trupti Bhoir speaking to Zee 24 Taas, about her experiences during the making of her big budget Marathi film ‘Agadbam’. The actress turned producer said that she wanted to do this film only in Marathi first, though she had offers from Hindi and Tamil for the remake of it simultaneously. One need guts to do that. But, Trupti seems to be really concerned about the prestige of Marathi film industry and their ability to offer something different.

Having a glimpse at the news desk, IBN Lokmat in their programme ‘Aajcha Sawal’ on 29th September, literally brought the home minister into big trouble, questioning his integrity; by showing some clippings of video footage, where the minister was seen in a meeting with a criminal and an anti-social element. Mr. Nikhil Wagle raised a valid point in the programme, questioning whether the move by Home Minister was only to endorse the criminal forces in the state. And, 92% of the viewers agreed by condemning this act. Last but not the least, there were too many restrictions on the news channels, while declaring result of the Allahabad High court on Ayodhya verdict on 30th evening. As a result of which, it was BBC World channel, that disclosed the verdict first. Is there freedom of Press in our country, when it comes to broadcasting the news on Court verdict?
