On the sets of ‘Kunku’

This week instead of assessing the TV News or programmes, MMW thought of paying a visit to the sets of a TV serial . So, on the 2nd March 2010, we decide to walk in on the sets of ‘Kunku’, where Parshuram ( Sharad Ponkshe) was getting ready to give another scare to Janaki (Mrunmayee Deshpande). With his commanding voice and scary looks once again he was seen dominating in that scene, giving an ultimatum to Janaki. So perfect were these two artistes through their dialogue deliveries and body language that director – Mangesh Kanthale had to okay the shots in the very first take. All that mattered to him, was to take the additional over the shoulder shots for incorporating close ups during editing. No wonder why these serial makers opt for such professional artistes.

For all the three shots that followed at different places, Sharad Ponkshe, who otherwise plays a dreaded villain, saw his lady co artiste comfortable, with spontaneous jokes in between the scenes. While Suhas Joshi (who plays the old lady of this royal family) preferred to relax, Anand Ingale, who also plays an important role in this serial preferred to keep himself busy with his cell phone. Perhaps, he was sending SMS’s, as everyone present there were asked to keep their phones on silent mode , to avoid interruption during the shoot. Only important person we missed on the sets was Sunil Barve. May be, he was occupied elsewhere.

During tea break, Suhas Joshi preferred to solve crossword puzzles, as she noticed that there was still time for her scene. But, in between she spoke to her lady co-artiste, to see that she didn’t feel isolated. Indeed, it was a good gesture from this versatile senior artiste, who is always like a caring aunt to Mrinmayee, whenever she is in Mumbai. Few friends of the artistes did walk in during the break to say hi and hello to their friends. It was nice to see Aditya Vaidya ( Char Chaughi’ & ‘Char Divas Sasuche’ fame) spending his fee time with friend- Anand Ingale, who was otherwise feeling bored, for having to wait for his scene. In all, the atmosphere on the sets of ‘Kunku’ was very
cheerful. Thanks to director Mangesh Kanthale, who coordinated so well with his entire team including crew members.
