Popular art director of films,
Nitin Chandrakant Desai, who has produced many historical serials, has
announced his decision to make a film on the life of Balgandharva. Speaking to
Zee 24 Taas he disclosed this news. “ I am already preparing the ground by
collecting the relevant information about the legendary, from various institutes
in Pune. As soon as I finalize the actor to play his role, I shall
disclose the same before you,” said Mr. Desai.
As Rain continues to create havoc during the week, in many parts of
Maharashtra including Mumbai, with some of the rivers overflowing;
the Sand mafias continue with their theft of sand on river banks in various
regions of the state. Last week, it was Zee 24 Taas involved in sting
operations, exposing these sand mafias and forcing the Government to keep strict
vigilance. This week
IBN-Lokmat carried out their investigation in
Solapur. They also highlighted how a Tahsildar of a village in this district was
beaten up by the goons, when he prevented such people from carrying out such
theft.
It was only due to the expose by the TV team
and the timely intervention of the Police team that few of them
could be arrested. IBN-Lokmat news
also tried to follow-up another related news about the murder of
social activist in Nanded, who had exposed the Sand Mafias. The news
also highlighted the demand made by Local Shiv Sena activists to
hand over the investigations to CID.

Mi Marathi is launching two
new serials this week i.e. from
30th August 2010.
‘Khel Mandla’
will be aired at 7.30 pm while ‘Tu Bhetashi Navyane’ which begins at 8pm
has a strong star-cast comprising of Vikram Gokhale, Rajesh
Shrigarpure, Rutuja Deshmukh, Madhu Kambikar and others. But, it
remains to be seen how these two serials will be able to compete
with all others, most of them following the pattern of Hindi.
Now days, we see a lot of songs and the
artistes dressed up in colourful costumes dancing on their tunes, to
celebrate the occasions such as lavish engagement ceremonies.
‘Lajja’ while shooting a similar incident, even invited a celebrity
actress to perform a dance in a guest appearance. The day is not
far, when the audience may even witness an item number. Isn’t that a
best trick to pass time in the screenplay. Are Marathi serials
really short of stories ? Are we going the Bollywood way ?
Looking at the Sports news on various channels,
Indian cricket news seemed to have taken a back seat, due to dismal
performance in Sri Lanka.
But, even otherwise, without Sachin in the team, the cricket news on
Marathi channels does not receive much attention. However, the match
fixing news during the ongoing England-Pakistan
received the required attention on all Marathi channels. The sting
operation, exposing the people behind match fixing and the
involvement of 7 Pakistani players, turned out to be a big news for
Cricket lovers.
