Star Pravah's new Marathi serial 'Suvasini' is inviting special attention, for the manner in which it is presented. Not only the artistes in this serial are par excellence; but the set design and costumes bring the pre independence era live before you on the small screen.

'Suvasini' which is a Sanskrit word, means, "One whose Husband is Alive in other words Sumangali." People with this name tend to be very warm and nurturing. They are extremely reliable and are often found taking care of others. They have a deep need to try and create harmony in their surroundings. .

So, as the title suggests, the serial tries to present the feelings and lifestyle of female folks during those olden days. 'Suvasini' is a tale of a young girl who has the determination to challenge her circumstances and fight against all odds in the society, while she passes through all the stages as a daughter, wife and a mother. With perfect locations and suitable art design, the serial goes on to create a deep impact with the social values and its relevance in today's changing time. The new girl Aishwarya Tupe as Savi the central character, is impressive. With this sensible production, Smita Talwalkar as a producer, makes a comeback to the small screen with this new subject.

On Sunday, E-TV premiered a sensible film 'Karuya Udyachi Baat' on this timely subject of Global warming. Starring Neha Pendse and Pankaj Vishnu in the lead, the film had failed to invite attention when released earlier this year, for the reasons best known to the producers. Perhaps, the distribution didn't work well. But, through the television media, the film certainly did well to spread the most relevant message to the masses, about the dangers of Global warming and what best people can do to protect the environment. Such films are the need of the time and efforts of the film maker for handling this subject and the artistes for taking up such projects is to be highly appreciated.

On the news front, the latest news flashed is about the person who has been teaching discipline to the parliamentarians of India . Through RTI act, it has now been brought to the notice of the people that Lok Sabha speaker Meera Kumar has to pay arrears of more than 1 Crore rupees to the Government, in the form of rent, for the Government bungalow occupied by her since her father's death. Isn't that a big breaking news ? Saam TV highlighted this story in their news bulletin on Tuesday 22nd November 2011.

In the Sports section, while there was talk about Sachin reaching his century of centuries on his home ground, at the political front, there was battle of words between Mr. Ajit Pawar and Thackeray brothers. On the interference of Thackeray brothers into farmer's struggle, Mr. Ajit Pawar was reported saying on Marathi TV news that the Thackeray brothers had no business to talk about farming, as their forefathers were not farmers. Reacting to this statement, MNS chief Mr. Raj Thackeray has countered by questioning as to how much do the Pawar family know about cricket ? With the nearing of Municipal elections in Mumbai, such battle of words is expected to reach its peak in days to come.
