"I played test cricket like T20"- Salim Durani
Salim Durani , the Indian cricket's much-loved man, has finally been rewarded with the coveted C.K. Nayadu Lifetime Achievement Award by the Board of Control for Cricket in India. The popular tall and stylish cricketer who played 29 tests for India during 60s and early 70s was a finest all rounder in the Indian team. He was known for hitting a six on public demand. On his selection for the prestigious award, the trendy left hander was interviewed by Star Majha channel on 30th May 2011, when he had a frank chit chat with Sports Correspondent Vijay Salvi .

When asked as to how much he would have enjoyed playing today's new format of T20 cricket, Mr. Durani stated that he actually played T20 type of cricket those days, while playing test matches for India. He has the distinction of being the only cricketer who would respond to a demand of hitting a six from the crowd. The crowd would cheer "We want Sixer" and Durrani would hit one. Reacting on this situation, Salimbhai, as he is popularly known, praised the stadium crowd, with whose blessings he could repeat that feat.

Salim Durani was all praise for Sachin Tendulkar, whom he called the God sent player on the cricket field. At the same time, while praising the present format of T-20 cricket and IPL league, he stated that such format of cricket offered opportunities to many young talents in India. He was also all praise for young cricketers like Virat kohli and Yuvraj Singh. Talking about the performance of Chris Gayle, in the recently concluded IPL, he stated that he was impressed by his technique in aggressive batting. "He only reminded me of Garfield Sobers, another West Indian all rounder during my time," he added.

A perfect all rounder who batted always in the lower middle order in test cricket for India, finally managed to convince the new captain Tiger Pataudi, who was replacement for injured Nari Contractor. Mr. Durani batted at no.3 and later went on to hit a century. While narrating this incidence, he praised his partner and team mate Ramakant Desai the pace bowler of India during his time, for his all round performance in partnership with him.

Another present Indian cricketer Zaheer Khan, who has been rested for the one day series against West Indies and would join the test series later, while speaking to IBN Lokmat, stated that the newcomers who have got an opportunity in this series, have a very good chance to create their place in the team. "There are many young talented players in the team full of enthusiasm," he said.

Taking a close look at the Marathi stage, Zee 24 Taas offered a special programme, wherein they showed the ceremony at the 25th show of old revived play 'Hamidabichi Kothi'. Special Guest on the occasion Mr Nana Patekar, spoke through his heart about such successful revival of old plays and expressed his desire to perform the role of legend Nilu Phule in the play 'Sakharam Binder' if that play was revived. It clearly indicated the love of the actor like Nana for the stage. In the meanwhile, Sunil Barve under whose banner Subaka, the old hit plays are being revived, announced his next play 'Vishvrukshachi Chhaya' by writer Vasant Kanetkar. He also announced the names of lead pair Girija Oak and Sachin Khedekar, who will perform in this play.
