Finally, Mr. Prime Minister speaks
"Finally, our prime Minister speaks.." was the breaking news on most of the Marathi news channels on Wednesday, when Mr. Prime Minister spoke to five selected editors of Media, whom he had invited, only to clarify that he was not a weak prime minister and was willing to do something to prevent the price rise of essential commodities in India.

However, the Prime Minister's gesture was not taken in good spirit by most of the news channels and they criticized his move of calling only selected few editors and speaking to them. "This was not good for democracy, opined many experts, who expressed their views on various news channels." IBN Lokmat Editor-in-chief Mr. Nikhil Wagle also questioned whether it was proper on the part of PM to divide the media and select only a few editors to express his opinion. On the same channel Mr. Dixit Sr. Editor from Lokmat Group also opposed this move by Prime Minister. Mr. Bal, Senior Journalist said that instead of speaking to few press editors, the Prime Minister should directly address the people of this country. Mr. Bharatkumar Raut commented with humour that at last the Prime Minister has broken his silence and spoken something.

The news reports on Lokpal Bill and public representatives committee continue to invite attention on all news channels, with Mr. Anna Hazare now in New Delhi, trying to meet prominent opposition leaders. He was likely to meet Mr. Nitish Kumar and Mr. Bardhan on Thursday and his meeting with Congress President was rescheduled on saturday, the news reports indicated.

In an investigative report filed by IBN Lokmat on their channel on Wednesday, it showed as to how the 250 students appearing for the technical Engineering exam in Jalgaon were openly copying the answers from books carried with them, in the presence of Supervisors. The exams were conducted by Jaipur Open University, the report stated. This special report also invited the attention of the Government towards such irregularities in conducting competitive exams.

While the reality shows comprising of music and quiz still continue to dominate during the prime time, Zee Marathi extended their prime time till 10.30 pm to accommodate their new serial 'Guntata Hriday Hey'. This new serial on a different subject began on 27th June and is gaining popularity with the initial episodes. It remains to be seen how it progresses further, but with script by Chinmay Mandlekar and direction by Satish Rajwade, the serial has certainly raised big hopes. It already has renowned artistes like Sandeep Kulkarni and Mrinal Kulkarni returning together after a long time. But, there is a surprise element in the form of Pallavi Subhash, who makes a comeback into Marathi, after performing in Hindi serials.
