Mixed reactions by TV Channels on Budget
The Financial budget for the year 2011-12 presented by the Finance Minister of India was received with mixed reactions from all Marathi news channels. While Zee 24 Taas, in their special programme suggested that there was nothing much offered for the majority segment i.e. farmers who are forming more than 60% of the country's population. The experts speaking on this channel were of the opinion that there should be a separate budget presentation only for the agricultural sector.

IBN-Lokmat through the reactions expressed by both experts and general people termed such budgets only as announcement of schemes without implementation. On Star Majha there were mixed reactions coming from cross section of the society, who called it just an average budget. Some of the senior citizens who were happy with concessions, also felt that some decision should have been taken to bring back the black money from foreign banks into the country and use the same for priority sectors. Women in particular were not at all happy with the budget and expressed their strong feelings against the same.

A day before the budget session, it was the Little Master Sachin Tendulkar, who grabbed all the attention on various news channels for his finest century; but it was India's bad luck that they had to content with a nail biting finish that ended in a tied match. All experts on different channels blamed the Indian bowling attack, which they felt was not strong enough to finish the opponent's entire innings. It was just India's luck that Zaheer struck in his second spell, which enabled them to finish in that manner.

The World Cup Cricket matches haven't been able to create that desired impact, except for the matches when Indian team plays. This was evident from the fact that Marathi Dramas and Marathi programmes haven't lost their regular viewer ship. Therefore, Marathi film producers need not postpone the release of their films, only for this reason.

This week Smita Thackeray launched the music of her forthcoming Marathi film 'Radaa Rox' in a big way and the event received wide coverage on all the channels. To make it more newsy she had invited Madhuri Dixit to be the chief guest of the function. The coverage not only brought into light her son Rahul, who is the writer and co-director of this film. His friend Heyramb Khot, a fashion photographer, is directing this musical love story of youngsters. The Video clipping of one song was also played by most of the TV news channels.

The news about an oldest cinema theatre in Pune allegedly involved in irregularity of ticket sales, was also covered in the news. Police complaint is said to have been filed against the Cinema house for issuing two different types of tickets for the same show. The producer of the film 'Pakada Pakadi' suspects foul play and has produced the evidence thereof. The owner of this prestigious old cinema house has agreed to look into the matter, but there has been no further progress in this case, during the week. It's high time that the Marathi film producers take up their issues with Government of Maharashtra for controlling such malpractices.
