SAAM TV offers variety
Whether it is a talk show or a TV serial, SAAM TV has always been in the race to invite the attention of viewers on Marathi television. With their new serial 'Veig' directed by Satish Rajwade, they have not only offered well known artistes like Urmila Kanetkar and Santosh Juvekar in the lead, but have also presented Santosh in a totally different role than what we have seen him on big screen. The serial is based on the original story of G. D. Madgulkar. The serial is picking up well among all age groups.

Through their popular talk show 'Ashich Hi Madhura' the host Smita Gavankar has been doing a very good job by extracting the best out of the guest, while making him or her at ease. Using all her expertise, Smita recently interviewed veteran Journalist Dilip Thakur, who recalled all his great memories of the 70s and 80s and comparing the behavior of some of the Bollywood personalities with that of our simple and down to earth Marathi stars. Through the discussion, Smita also made him speak about his association with late Laxmikant Berde. It was a good talk show for those who kept interest in film journalism.

In the same week, Smita interviewed another veteran film and stage personality Jyoti Subhash, who recalled her days at NSD and her association with batch mates like Om Puri and Naseeruddin Shah. Then it was an interview with Dr. Mrudula, who spoke about the popular songs and their compositions, through her own study and research in this field. This also turned out to be a good discussion. During the afternoon hours, this talk show offers variety through the guests from different fields. But, it would be more appealing if the photos or clippings of the movies of the artistes of yesteryears are also shown during the talk show.

On Zee Marathi, it is almost becoming clear now, as to who is the real culprit in the suspense filled serial 'Guntata Hriday Hey'. And, that's an indication that the serial will come to an end within next two weeks. Now, the same team of writer and director is getting ready to book this late night slot with their new serial 'Eka Lagnachi Dusari Goshta', starring Swapnil Joshi and Mukta Barve in the company of Asavari Joshi, Mohan Joshi, Vijay Kenkare, Anand Abhyankar, and other talented and reputed cast. With this new serial director Satish Rajwade will certainly make his presence felt on small screen.

In the news section, the Marathi news channels gave less prominence to the news of team Anna Hazare's fast in Mumbai, though they constantly reported the progress of that event. Perhaps, they knew that the proceedings in the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha were more important. But, what the viewers came to know was only how cleverly the ruling Government managed to convince some of the opposition members to their side in Lok Sabha, but fell completely flat for not able to convince their own alliance partners, who opposed their moves on getting their version of Lokpal passed hurriedly. Now, what we see on television news is the blame game by ruling party and opposition.

On the agitation which was called off by team Anna, most of the experts felt that the time and the venue was just not right. But, that does not mean, they were in favor of the version of Lokpal moved by the Government, opined many experts. In days to come, it will be a real test for all the politicians to fight elections and get elected, felt many analysts on TV news channels.

But, the most disgraceful act that we noticed was the behavior of  the RJD MP Rajniti Prasad tearing off the copy of the Bill in the house. One wonders, as to how news channels have not raised this question about the action to be taken against such a parliamentarian ? In fact, we only saw the channels showing how he defended his action. That was more surprising!
