People in Maharashtra didn't even know that on 22nd March Bihar Din was
celebrated for completion of 100 years, ever since Britishers separated Bihar
from Bengal on March 22, 1912. But, a small news about Bihar chief Minister
coming to Mumbai to attend the centenary celebrations of his state in Mumbai on
15th March 2012 sparked controversy, when Mr. Nitish Kumar said, that he does
not need a Visa to attend such a function in Mumbai.
It was at this moment, that people in Maharashtra actually came to know about
the centenary celebrations of Bihar. The electronic media, highlighted this
news, only to instigate MNS chief, who was forced to react during his Malegaon
meeting. The popular leader said, "When everything was going on well in Mumbai,
the Bihar CM wants to disturb the situation, only to show his strength, and
challenging us by uttering such statements. Now, let us see how he goes ahead
with the meeting."
The reply of Mr. Raj Thackeray to Nitish Kumar's challenge, posed fresh law and
order problem, as reported by media; but, Mr. Thakur , the organizer of the
event in Mumbai went personally to Mr. Raj Thackeray's office, the previous day
and explained to him that it was not a public meeting of Bihar CM; but he was
coming as a guest to attend a cultural programme to celebrate Bihar day.
The organizers in Mumbai, explained to Mr. Raj Thackeray that the programme
would begin with Maharashtra day song. At the same time, the news also reported
that Mr. Nitish Kumar also personally spoke to Mr. Raj Thackeray, perhaps to get
his official visa and defused the expected tension. On the actual function day,
he also spoke few lines of his speech in Marathi. Wasn't that another publicity
stunt ? The rival Shiv Sena spokesman, while reacting to this situation,
described it as 'fixing'.
In other political breaking news, it was reported that a fresh case was filed
against former Congress Minister- Mr. Kripashankar Singh. This time, the
controversial Politician has been booked under various Sections of the Arms Act
for possessing live ammunition exceeding permissible limits. The case has been
registered against him at the Nirmal Nagar police station in Bandra (East); the
news channels reported.
There were adverse reactions coming from different sections of the society over
the proposed strike call given by Auto Rickshaw union all over Maharashtra. The
Government had already agreed to hike the auto fare by Re.1, yet the demands of
the auto union were increasing day by day. They had even opposed to the
electronic meters and had gone to court to get stay on it; but, the High Court
and Supreme Court ruling has only frustrated them to go on strike," reacted the
spokesperson of Auto passengers. "The Government should have asked them to
withdraw the strike, before announcing the hike in Mumbai," said Mr. Shirish
Deshpande, Mumbai Grahak Panchayat.
Whether it was Luxury Bus fare hike, auto fare hike or Petrol hike, the people
in Maharashtra, are being taken for granted, without hearing what he has to say.
