Marathi entertainment ignores IPL
In the year 2008, when IPL began with its Cricket matches in India, the television broadcast of these matches literally gave a big scare to the Television entertainment channels, as it grabbed a substantial viewer ship during the prime time. In the year 2009, during the FICCI Frames seminar, then IPL Chairman openly admitted that to telecast the IPL matches during prime time, was his move to divert the viewer ship from the Saas Bahu soaps. Certainly, this might have had some effect on Hindi channels, during IPL matches season; but, the Marathi entertainment industry, seems to have ignored such a possibility. None of the popular serials and programmes feel the pinch during IPL season.

In fact, we see more and more new programmes and new serials lined up for release. The reality shows especially related to comedy and entertainment are going on in full swing. There are as many as three Marathi films, set for release, coming Friday. Frankly speaking, with the shifting of players from one team to the other, has taken away the interest of even regular cricket lovers. Now, to talk about people in Maharashtra, they even don't seem to be that enthusiastic about the New team Pune Warriors, as there are hardly one or two local players representing this team. And, there is no guarantee about their selection into playing 11. The same is the case with Mumbai Indians. When Sachin is not playing, not many cricket lovers are interested in watching their matches. Forget about going to stadium, people are not very keen to watch these matches live sitting at home.

In the talk show on television, It was a pleasure to watch the 94-year old freedom fighter and social activist Prakashbhai Mohadikar talking in the Great Bhet programme to IBN Lokmat channel editor Nikhil Wagle. A true follower of Sane Guruji, the well known freedom fighter introduced himself - a young man of 94. During the discussion, the great freedom fighter shared the journey of his life with the viewers. He spoke about his mentor Sane Guruji and narrated incidences, to show how he was inspired by his movement, during pre independence struggle.

But, when he was asked, as to why Sane Guruji committed suicide, the living legend said that his mentor was upset with the developments in the country after independence. "Guruji was very upset after the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi and that too at the hands of a person from Maharashtra. He was not happy with the progress, that he expected from the Government after independence. And, hence he committed suicide," he said.

However, the Grand old man who fought for India's independence struggle, is still sincerely working to spread the message of love, brotherhood and equality; which he has embodied in his life's mission. It was certainly a talk show to inspire many viewers, as he also disclosed the secret behind his good health. "I eat very little at one time and my food intake is spread over with few intervals," he revealed.

In the news section, there was nothing very special, except for the same old topics, where the opposition blamed the ruling party for suppressing the cases of investigation of land scams. But, the news of investigations being carried out at MET, owned by Bhujbals, flashed on all the channels. It all remains to be seen, how the NCP Politician is going to defend himself, in days to come.
