'A child gives birth to a mother….' That’s the catch line of Producer - Director Advocate Samrruddhi Porey's new film 'Mala Aai Vhaychay', which is based on a true incident.

At a time when Surrogation has become a big business in India, Samrruoddhi has raised the legal implications, through one such happening in a cinematic format. Getting a clue from one of her cases, which had created a deep impact on her mind, Ms. Samrruddhi Porey has put in all efforts to make this film with a realistic look.

Synopsis:
Mary is a model from a foreign country. She comes to India with a big dream of becoming a mother. She approaches a village co-operative society and selects a poor woman Yashoda, who accepts her proposal, for need of money due to personal problems.

When Yashoda gets pregnant, Mary starts living with her in village. In this process, she becomes familiar with people around and develops a liking towards their culture. Many funny incidents also take place during the period of her stay here. When all is well, the destiny has different plans. After 5 and half months of pregnancy, during one such regular check up of Yashoda, the doctor fears that the child could be born handicapped.

On hearing this, Mary’s dream shatters. Abortion isn't possible at this stage. So, she changes her mind and approaches an orphanage by paying huge amount with a request to admit the child after birth. Accordingly, she instructs Yashoda to do so and leaves back to her home country. All these happenings disturb Yashoda, as she cries for the child’s custody. The child in womb already evokes the emotions of a mother in Yashoda. She decides not to send the child to the orphanage, even if born physically handicapped.

By the grace of God, Yashoda gives birth to a lovely, healthy and normal child with blue eyes and Golden hair. He grows up in Yashoda’s hut and gets all the love and affection from her. The real drama still awaits.  Will a mother in Mary come back in search of her child? And, if she does, to whom the child belongs to, by law? The struggle for motherhood is what the film ‘Mala Aai Vhaychay’( I want to be a Mother) has tried to highlight.
