‘Daah’ speaks about the impact of a tragedy
Sometimes an untoward incidence may occur in somebody’s family and that family may seek help from government agencies, but to no avail. It could be the death of a near and dear one caused due to a terrorist ploy or through some other act. Ultimately, the trauma the members of the family go through, is something more than horrific situation. Only those who undergo such a situation, know what it is like. M.S. Media Mumbai Lakshadeep Production’s new Marathi film ‘Daah’ throws light on one such tragic happening in the family of a Diplomat.
Nandkumar Parulekar is India’s High Commissioner in England. Nandkumar’s father Appa who is a freedom fighter, is a principled man. He does not permit his son to take his family along with him during his tenure there. So, the family comprising of nandkumar’s mother, his Doctor-wife Kavita and children- Sanjay & Smita live happily in India. One day the bad news strikes that Nandkumar has been kidnapped. Both Indian and British Governments keep telling the family that ‘the investigation is on’. After two days of drama, on the third day the sad news comes about his dead body found in fields. Now comes the time to claim his dead body but the British Government does not release his body immediately in spite of repeated requests from Indian Government. The media camps at Parulekar’s residence in India causing more embarrassment to the Government. The Political leaders try to take advantage of the situation by promising all help, but in reality fail to keep their promise. As a result of this scenario, the members of the family are unable to come out of their house. The man who suffers the most is Appa- the head of the family. The film goes on to portray the real disturbance this man goes through at such a time. The film raises various issues relating to Government apathy in sorting out such issues and the lack of security to Diplomats posted outside.

‘Daah’ stars Madhav Abhyankar, Usha Nadkarni, Vighnesh Joshi, Madhuri Bedekar, Anand Kekan, Namrata kadam along with a big team of artistes. ‘Daah’ is directed by Ramvijay Parab. This film is due for release in Maharashtra very soon.
