Sharad Pawar releases first look of Film ‘Yashwantrao Chavan’

Yashwantrao Chavan shall always remain a legend of Maharashtra Politics, when somebody talks about the iron man of Maharashtra in Central Government. After C. D. Deshmukh, if anyone from Maharashtra who had risen to the highest rank of Central cabinet, it was Yashwantrao Chavan. After heading the Maharashtra Government, he was invited by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru to Delhi, to become part of the Central cabinet. He headed several important ministries and always remained loyal to Nehru family. To pay homage to this great leader from Maharashtra and to make today’s young generation aware of his contribution to the country, the Yashwantrao Chavan Pratishthan under the chairmanship of Union Minister Sharad Pawar and in association with the Mahararashtra Government, have produced a Marathi feature film, which is a biopic titled ‘Yashwantrao Chavan – a chronicle of storm’.

On Friday evening, in presence of Union Minister and NCP chief Mr. Sharad Pawar, the first look of this film was released before the media. Also present on the occasion were Ms. Supriya Sule, Mr. Arun Sadhu, who has written the script of this film, Mr. Jabbar Patel, who has directed this film, Mr. Anand Modak, who has composed the music of this film, artistes, singers and crew members of the film. Officials of Zee group, including Mr. Nitin Kini were also present, as the film is being distributed by Essel Vision productions on 14th March in 250 theatres across Maharashtra.

After briefing about the film, Mr. Ajit Bhure, who anchored the show, passed on the responsibility to the director Dr.Jabbar Patel, who introduced each and every artiste and crew member of the film, to the chief guest and media. Actor Ashok Lokhande will be portraying the iconic leader on the screen, while his younger days role will be portrayed by Om Bhutkar. Hindi theatre artiste Lubna Salim will be portraying the role of Yashwantrao’s wife Venutai, while his mother’s role will be portrayed by Meena Naik. Supriya Vinod is playing the role of Indira Gandhi, while Benjamin Gilani is playing Jawaharlal Nehru, in this film. The other artistes of the film are Vaishali Dabhade, Satish Alekar, Rahul Solapurkar, Yashpal Sarnath and Nana Patekar. Bhargavi Chirmule is presenting a lavani in this film, under the choreography of veteran Leela Gandhi.

After the official announcement, Mr. Sharad Pawar also spoke about the great leader from Maharashtra, with whom he was associated as a Youth leader of the Congress. He recalled the memories of his good old days in his association.
