‘Chirgut’ promises hard hitting subject

JRD Entertainment’s new Marathi film ‘Chirgut’ is all set to release all over Maharashtra on 30th March 2012. On Tuesday 20th March, Producer Rajashri Jagtap and director Pradeep Ghosnikar (‘Foreignchi Patlin’ fame) had arranged a Press conference to release the music of this film. On this occasion, some clippings of the film were also shown. Well known Film maker and director N.Chandra was the chief guest and released the Music CD of the film, which has four songs on the music of Kanakraj.

The film has a hard hitting subject with the protagonist hero -Namdev Bhandare fighting against injustice in the system, played by National award winning actor Upendra Limaye. Two other important characters namely that of a social activists and NGO representatives are played by Chinmay Mandlekar and Siya Patil. Impressed by the philosophy of Namdev, Janhavi joins his movement.

Speaking on the occasion, the director of the film said that the film was shot in the slums of Turbhe near Navi Mumbai, where there is a big population of neglected class of the society. “The hero of the film, has been brought up by one such person, who belongs to Eunuch community. He is socio politically literate and takes up the issue on behalf of the entire slum area where he lives, when it’s their exploitation, in the name of slum rehabilitation. My film is a hard hitting comment against the system,” he said.

Mr. N. Chandra, after releasing the Music CD of this film, said that he had seen the film, which had a powerful subject. I have seen Namdev Dhasal and his movement during his young days and the hero of this film is almost his image,” he stated. Siya Patil, who plays the leading lady of this film, said that she was highly impressed by the script. “When I knew that there were two great artistes like Upendra Limaye and Chinmay Mandlekar performing in this film, I immediately said ‘yes’ to this offer.”

The film’s cinematography has been done by Page 3 fame Madhu Rao. Story by Dilip Jagtap, screenplay and dialogues by Sanjay Pawar, lyrics by Guru Thakur, Dilip Jagtap and music by Kanakraj are the other credits. The film has already won two awards in different categories in Zee Gaurav and Ma ta Sanmaan.
