Through the movie ‘Bandya ani Baby’, Dr. S. P. Balsubramanyam, for the 1st time has given his voice to a Marathi song. The song
‘Marg Don Jagnayche Dista Paaul he Adakhalte…..’ , written by Sandeep Khare and put to music by Dr. Salil Kulkarni has been sung by Dr. S. P. Balsubramanyam. The song was recorded at Juhu’s Aajivasan Studio. The actors and the technicians of the movie were present to this event.
Renowned singers are known to break language barriers and entertain audience all over the world with their magical voices. S. P. Balsubramanyam has always had a first take in doing so and making a place in the hearts of the audience.
Dr. S. P. Balsubramanyam was born in Andhra Pradesh on 4th June 1946. He was one of the eight children. He was interested in singing since his childhood. Over the past 40 years of his career, Padmashree S. P. Balsubramanyam has sung over 49,000 songs in over 13 languages. These include Tamil, Telgu, Kannada, Hindi, Sanskrit and Malayalam. His feat has been mentioned in the Guinness Book of world records. At the same time he has the record of singing 21 Kannada songs in 12 hours, 19 Tamil songs in a day and giving music to 16 Hindi songs.
He has also earned an independent place as a music director and an actor. He earned the title of ‘Dr.’ in 1999 and then the Padmashree award in 2001.
