Bollywood has been flooded with foreign actors. It is not new to Hindi cinema lovers to find foreign actresses acting out the traditional Indian bahus. It has been happening right from Manoj Kumar's Purabh Aur Pachim to Akshay Kumar’s Namaste London.
The concept of a foreigner suun (daugther-in-law) has never been experimented with in Marathi movies. Director Pradeep Ghonsikar tries to pick up the best of the foreign and Indian culture through the movie ‘Forenchi Patilin’.
Ramchandra Patil (Girish Pardeshi) goes abroad to take education. There he meets Madam Jennifer (Billiana Rodonich,). They fall in love and get married. Ramchandra gets his newly married wife to his village. This gori-suun then becomes Janki Patil.
The main attraction of the movie is Billiana Rodonich,’s role as Janki Patil. The movie revolves around her respect towards the Indian culture and traditions which are totally different from her traditions, her love for her husband and her struggle to take the village towards development. While speaking bout her role Biliyana says, “I loved my role as a Patilin. Indian people, especially, those in the village are very hard working. I have not worked earlier but Indian culture has given me lessons in acting.”
The movie has been produced by Sanjivani Gavayee under the banner of ‘S 4 Entertainment’. Ashok Patki has given the music, the lyrics have been written by P. M. Shinde. The script, story and the dialogues have been written by Pratap Gangavane. After successfully running in Kolhapur No this movie released in Pune on 23 Mayl.
