Entering the list of a record of 1000 shows is the favourite play 'Char Diwas Premache.' The play had its 1000th show staged on May 1. This is Suyog's third play which has achieved such a feat.
Other plays in the list are Vahato Hi Durvachi Judi, To Mi Navhech, Ashrunche Zaali Phule, Vastraharan, Ti Phulrani, Moruchi Mavashi, All the Best, Tarun Tarka Mahatare Arka, Gela Madhav Kunikade, Eka Lagnachi Gosht, Yadakadachit and Sahi Re Sahi.
Producer of the play, Mr. Sudhir Bhat says, " I think this will be the last play which will be able to cross the 1000th mark. But there are a lot of barriers like IPL matches, bomb blasts, elections, recession, exams, play dates, festivals which keep people away from watching the plays. Every producer dreams that his play should complete a 1000 plays but these things are keeping us away from our dreams."
It is Prashant Damale's fourth play which has successfully completed a 1000 plays. Till the 850th show, the stars in the play Arun Nalavade, Kavita Laad, Savita Prabhune were the same but after marriage, Kavita left the play and was replaced by Veena Jamkar.
The play was first staged in the year 1997. Mr. Bhat already had drafted a plan of the play in his mind. He had even thought of a suitable title but was still in search of a suitable writer. His search made him approach Pu. La. Deshpande and Gangaram Gavankar until he finally found Ratnakar Matkari. He wrote a play which would appeal to all married couples from those who have newly entered into wedlock to those who were enjoying 25 years of married life. Making the play a colourful one was the direction of Vaman Kendre.
Char Divas Premache gave a boost to Suyog's venture of staging plays abroad. The play earned a lot of respect among audiences from London, Dubai and Boston.
