Kiran has played this role very efficiently in the presence of another versatile actress Smita Talwalkar, who plays his mother in this play. Prior to this success, Kiran has already had the taste of small screen with his appearance in ‘Pimple Paan’ and ‘Ujed Phool La.’ On big screen he was seen in Praksah Jha’s Hindi film ‘Apharan’ , Gajendra Ahire’s ‘Pandhara’ and Hemant Apte’s ‘Majhi Mansa’. Kiran’s next film due for release is ‘Yelkot Yelkot Jai Malhar’ starring Milind Gunaji, Shweta and Ashok Samarth.

MMW caught up with Kiran just before his play ‘Govind Ghya Kuni Gopal Ghya’ in Mumbai and the easy going, simple and courteous Kiran spoke about his steady and sure progress in this artistic field. Excerpts from an interview:

Kiran Mane

Q: Tell us something about your link with STANSLAVASKY ?
A: Oh, that’s my theatre workshop training youngsters, which means An Actor prepares.

Q: And, what’s this ‘If..! The Musical fantasy!!’ All about ?
A: That’s just a time pass short musical film experimented by me based on my imagination. I have tried to show, what would happen if I were trapped inside a Grocery mall whole night. I fulfill my wish interacting with each and every product, with a lovely song played in the background. It was just a fun, nothing else.

Q: But, it has come out very well, inviting lots of comments on Filmaka India site, from those who have watched it online. Isn’t it ?
A: Yes, many people liked it and have expressed their frank opinion.

Q: You are a Gold medalist at the state level drama competitions and have also bagged the fellowship of Maharashtra Government for being the Best Theatre talent. How much has your stage experience helped you so far ?
A: Every actor is learning with every new play he performs in. Acting is such an art that you would still want to learn more. For me, it’s a passion. The role I am playing in ‘Govind Ghya Kuni Gopal Ghya’ has all shades of acting. It is the most challenging role. At a particular moment, you will find me doing comedy, but very next moment I am emotional. There are scenes where I lose my temper but quickly recover for the next scene. And I enjoy doing it.

Q : How much of influence Pandit Satyadev Dubey had on you ?
A: When I attended his workshop in Pune, I became his favourite student. Once he asked me to prepare a skit on the spot and I did it. He was so impressed that he suggested me to form a group from Satara and enter the State level competition. So much of confidence he had in me. I fulfilled his wish, as our play received standing ovation and I bagged the award. I would say, Panditji helped me to polish my abilities.

Q: How did you get into Prakash Jha’s film?
A: Before the start of their shooting schedule off Satara, Mr. Jha was looking for some local actors to give a natural feel to the film’s script and as I was one of the aspirants from nearby town, I got selected immediately after a trial. It was a good experience.

Q: How an actor in you is compatible with today’s change observed in the media ?
A: “As the lifestyle changes, our acting should also change.” Take the example of Mr. Amitabh Bachchan. He too has changed with time. He just can’t perform in the same fashion, as he was doing it in 70s. As an actor, there is no end to development. According to changing time, our strategy changes. I also admire the spirit of Ashok Saraf. Even after attaining so much of success in films, he is back to stage for further development. Look at Ms. Smita Talwalkar. Why is she taking so much of interest to perform on stage, when she is already an achiever ? It is their sincerity and passion that drives them back to theatre with the only intention of learning more and self improvisation.
